John Jenkins
John is a proud father and grandfather. He has 14 years of local
government experience and 22 years of service in the United States
Military; John holds a bachelors degree from the University of Texas
at Arlington.
He currently serves as District Manager with the City of Dallas
Parks and Recreation Department. His responsibilities include administering
a multi-million dollar budget for the operation and management of
parks, recreation and aquatics facilities, serving over 200,000
citizens throughout Southwest Dallas. John co-founded the Friends
of Oak Cliff Parks, a non-profit organization responsible for volunteering,
raising funds for the restoration and preservation of parks.
As a Trustee for the City of Dallas Employees' Retirement Fund,
his responsibilities include; ensuring the solvency, integrity and
financial stability of the City's 3.1 billion dollar pension fund
which serves over 15,000 active and retired employees.
Upon graduating high school, John had a passion to serve his country
in some military capacity and joined the Tennessee Air National
Guard which he served 6 years. Upon moving to Texas he joined the
Texas Air National Guard. John was activated in September 2004 and
deployed to New Orleans, La. to assist with relief efforts for hurricane
victims of Katrina. He also assisted with relief efforts for victims
of hurricane Rita. In June 2007 John retired from the military with
22 years of service to his country.
He is a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, serves on the City of
Arlington Library Advisory Board, the Arlington Life Shelter Board
and the Arlington and Mansfield Action Committee Board.
Realizing the need for investment education, John co-founded eleven
investment clubs throughout the country; Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston,
Atlanta, Washington D.C. and Miami. On September 18, 2001 his efforts
were recognized on CNBC financial channel.
John is especially proud of his daughter, NaKeisha and granddaughter,
Kennedy.
